Term 3
Term 3
Message from Mr Etheridge
As we look forward to brighter, warmer weather and longer days there has been plenty to keep us feeling cheerful here at The Hundred of Hoo Primary over the last module. The exceptional effort your children put into everything they do here at Hoo is fantastic and below are just a few pictures of some of the work that they have produced over the course of module 3 alone.
You will hopefully have been able to join us for one of our regular parent book looks to see the progress that your child or children have made, but if not, these will take place again next module alongside Parent Consultations.
Young Voices
On 22nd January 2025, our fabulous school choir joined 8,279 other children at the O2 arena in Greenwich for the annual Young Voices concert! Miss Graves and Mrs Bull have been running choir club all year leading up to this incredible event. The children were absolutely incredible and sang amazing renditions of pop songs, a Bob Marley Medley and with the lead singer from Strictly Come Dancing, Tommy Blaize. We can't wait to see what Young Voices 2026 brings!
Wheel and Walk to School
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is a great way to build physical activity in children’s daily routine which is important for their physical health and mental wellbeing.
Active school runs also help to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate. A 2021 YouGov study showed nearly half of UK children worry about air pollution near their school and that children thought active travel was the best way to bring down these pollution levels.
With the fact that we know that finding a parking space is possibly the most stressful time of day for most parents, we would love for as many families as possible to be involved in this project for the two weeks it will run on the 24th March - 4th April!
Mr Paton, our PE subject lead, will be sending a letter at the start of March so keep an eye out for it!
Parental Engagement Sessions
Our modular parental engagement sessions truly are highlights of our calendar. We genuinely love to warmly welcome parents and carers into the academy to be able to join in with activities linked to what the children have been learning over the course of those six weeks. Whilst we know that not all parents have the ability to join us, all children are still well-engaged with the activities taking place!
Parents supported their children to make aircrafts out of clay. It was a successful afternoon with pupils demonstrating their learner profiled attributes - principled and knowledgable.
Year 2 Visitors
This module Year 2 have focused on the central idea Innovation and inventions may make the world a better place. In history they have enjoyed researching The Wright Brothers and discovering when and where the first flight took place. With this in mind, we invited engineers, pilots, fire fighters and inventors into school!
