Welcome
Global Awareness & Student Activism Week (April 22–30) is an annual event dedicated to honoring student activism, reflecting on past movements, and building a future rooted in justice and collective action. This event emerged from the April 2024 student-led protests and encampment in solidarity with Palestine, a historic moment that exposed institutional repression and the power of student organizing.
Each year, this week will serve as a space for education, dialogue, and movement-building through teach-ins, performances, interactive sessions, workshops, and community gatherings. By engaging students, faculty, staff, and community allies, we will preserve the historical memory of student activism while fostering ongoing resistance and coalition-building.
2025 Theme:
The 2025 theme centers on the necessity of looking back to move forward. After a year of institutional retaliation and community resilience, we dedicate this week to:
Reflecting on the events of April 2024 and previous student movements
Extracting key lessons from past organizing efforts
Healing from the trauma inflicted by university violence and repression
Rebuilding trust between students, faculty, and community allies
This theme acknowledges that activism is not just about resisting but also about caring for one another, strengthening relationships, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of movements.
