What is Tri-M?
Tri-M is a national music honor society made up of students involved in band, choir, orchestra, or other fine art music disciplines. Our aim is to promote excellence in musicianship and in character, as well as to connect the various music disciplines and build positive relationships within our community.
Who can join?
Students enrolled in an ensemble at KHS are eligible to apply for membership*. Candidates must maintain average grades of 80 or above in all academic non-elective classes, and a 90 or above in all ensemble courses (band, choir, orchestra). Excellence of character is also expected. Interested students will be eligible to apply in May 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.
*Exceptions can be made at the discretion of the sponsor/advisor when there are special circumstances.
Why should I join Tri-M?
Students who love music and want to know more about the other disciplines can connect with each other. Students who plan to study music after high school in any capacity can benefit from involvement with other disciplines as well.
What does Tri-M do?
Tri-M participates in a service project each school year. Students also have the opportunity to perform in solos or ensembles informally and in a formal recital.
