Laboratory of Metallurgy & Materials in Archaeology
Cow weight image is courtesy of the Tel Dor Expedition
The lab focuses on the research of archaeological materials with an emphasis on metals. This includes metal artefacts from different archaeological sites and periods in Israel, which are studied considering typology, chronology, spatial distribution and digitization of finds. In the lab we combine methods from natural science to reconstruct the origins of the metals, the way they were produced, and how they were used. The results are used as the base for archaeological research in fields of economics, trade, maritime connectivity and beyond.
