Founded in 1967, CJSF fosters high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship in the middle school grades. CJSF emphasizes service to the school and the community while fostering pride in scholastic achievement.
California Junior Scholarship Federation membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CJSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements.

PHASTjv stands for protecting health and slamming tobacco. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student may join. PHASTjv club is extracurricular, which means members come to meetings during lunch, usually once a month. Mrs. Mercer encourages those students who are motivated, trustworthy, reliable, and responsible to join. PHASTjv teaches students how to get involved, have fun, and make a difference in their community. PHASTjv does leave campus a few times a year, but students must have qualifying grades in order to be eligible.
