Let's make a plan for summer reading! Do this with friends, family or people you care about! You can create a reading goal together. Check in periodically to see how you are reaching the reading goal you set. Encourage each other to keep it going!
Gather all the summer reading materials.
Print off the log.
Put your reading dates and times on the calendar.
Make a list of books you would like to read. Check out the highlighted ones here. (Some are links to hear the story read to you!) There is also another tab up top with some good books to check out.
Set a reading goal. You can set a goal to reach a certain number of minutes each day or a certain number of books by the end of the summer.
Do you have any books that fit the theme? The "All Together Now" theme could be about family, friends, or community members that do things together. Use our list or make your own.
Do something in your community! Visit the Huntington Public Library! There are 2 different locations. We can help each other choose great books when we work together. The librarians are waiting for you to visit!

Let's do something together that benefits the environment. Visit a town beach and do a clean up with friends and family. We can keep our coastline beautiful when we work together to keep it clean and pick up the trash. Don't forget to bring a book to read while you are there! Take a break and get some reading in while you rest.
Which of these Huntington beaches have you visited? Visit either a favorite place or a new one and work together to do a mini-clean up.
Here are some beach themed books you may want to bring along!

Let's do something together that benefits someone we love. Make a plan to visit someone and put the plan in motion. Use your reading skills to bake some brownies or bring a special treat to someone you care about. Spend time talking with them and tell them about a book that you read (or are still reading). Ask them what they like to read or find out their favorite childhood books. Build a special memory from this visit and be sure to tell them why they are so special to you.

Let's do something together to make the world a more beautiful place. One way to do this is by planting some beautiful flowers in your own backyard. Maybe you would like to discover some places nearby where special care is given to the plants and flower native to Long Island? These places are called arboretums. An arboretum is like a museum for trees and plants. You can walk through and enjoy nature while you learn about the trees and plants that are there. Here are some places to visit!
