MERITZ Insurance
Insurance is required for ALL students at HUFS. As an exchange student, you may have insurance through your home university that will cover your time on campus in Seoul. You need to submit a copy of your insurance to us that shows us that a) you have it, and b) it covers the duration of your exchange.
However, if it does not, or you need insurance, you can sign up for insurance through our office. Please see more detailed information below or visit http://n.foreigner.db.com/hufs (Please use Internet Explorer to sign up).
Insurance Coverage Details
The insurance provided locally through Meritz costs approximately 60,000 (around 60$ USD) per semester. Here are the benefits of this insurance (as of Fall 2018):
Accidental Death and Disability: 100,000,000
Accident Hospitalization Coverage: 50,000,000
Outpatient Treatment (Accident): 250,000( maximum for one day)
Sickness Death: 30,000,000
Prescription Drugs (Accident): 50000 (maximum for one day)
Disease Hospitalization Medical Expenses: 50,000,000
Outpatient Treatment (Disease): 250,000 ( maximum for one day)
Prescription Drugs (Disease): 50000 (maximum for one day)
Liability of Compensation for Daily Life: 30,000,000
Special Coverage: 30,000,000
In case of death incurred by an accident or illness, the remains will be transported within 1 year from the date of the accident or disease occurrence and the costs of transportation, search and rescue, airfares will be refunded to the legal heir.
In case of disappearance, the costs of search and rescue by plane or ship will be refunded.
If the insured is hospitalized for over 14 days, there is a relief cost of transportation and accommodation that will be refunded. (2 guests/within 14 days)

Manipulation/Extracorporeal shock wave/Prolotherapy expenses (in Korea):3,000,000
