Art education plays a vital role in preparing our youth for a successful future. Not only does it provide an outlet for self-expression, it also develops life skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. The arts promote empathy by introducing students to various cultures and worldviews. It also gives students an opportunity to express their opinions, beliefs and interests. Providing environments like art classrooms emphasizes to students that their voices are meaningful in their education.
Experiences in the art classroom can introduce students to the possibilities of an art or design-related career. Providing students with an opportunity to participate in the arts can help them develop an interest or passion for it. Demonstrating how the arts can be interwoven with other subject areas can engage students with multiple interests.
