Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year!!!!
August 18, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome your child to my social studies classes.
In order for us to get to know each other a little better, I would like to tell you a little about myself.
I am a Niles McKinley graduate and completed my studies at Youngstown State University where I earned a BS in Education, concentration in comprehensive social studies. I earned my MAT from Marygrove College in 2006. I continue to further my studies through various educator opportunities with experiences at MCRD Parris Island, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC and Yad Vashem online, Harvard Extension Courses and the National Constitution Center to name a few.
I started my teaching career in coastal North Carolina where I spent the first 8 years teaching Social Studies at Manteo High School in Dare County. My family and I moved back to the Valley in 2002 and currently reside in Liberty. I have been teaching at Hubbard High School since our relocation.
I have been married for over 34 years and have four children: three sons, Zachary, a 2015 graduate of HHS and TCTC, and Griffin, a 2023 HHS graduate, now attending George Mason University in northern Virginia, and Luke, a senior at HHS. My daughter Molly is a 2018 graduate of HHS and a 2024 graduate of YSU. We are a proud Army family and support my husband, who is a colonel in the US Army and is serving our nation as a member of the Army Staff and the Department of Defense. We have enjoyed spending many hours exploring the museums, monuments and memorials, learning about our nation’s history and government in Washington DC. We also enjoy traveling to other parts of the country and have expanded to international travel to learn about other cultures and history.
I believe that next to parents, I have one of the most important roles in your child’s life. Education has always played an important part in my life and I hope that together, we can make it important in your child’s life as well. I believe that every child is capable of learning and must be held accountable for their decisions, good, bad and ugly, and will vow to do whatever I can to reach every one of my students.
I hope that I can count on your help this school year to encourage your children and to be as involved as your busy schedules will allow. One of the most important factors to the success of our young people is parental involvement. This can be something as simple as setting aside thirty minutes nightly to review homework with them. It also means you will encourage appropriate behavior in the classroom and following all teacher and district wide rules
I am sure that we will have a successful year with your help and support
I can be reached via email at wackd@hubbard.k12.oh.us or by calling the school and leaving a message at (330)534-1921 ext. 2206. Please contact me with any questions or concerns that may arise.
We are sure to have a very fun and exciting year filled with learning and I look forward to working with your children in our fascinating journey through history!
Sincerely,
Debbie Wack
