Football Skills
The students will learn offensive and defensive positions along with pass patterns in football. They will learn in routes, out routes, curl routes, go/streak/fly routes. They will first practice running the patterns and getting familiar with the patterns and names. Once I feel they know how to run the patterns we will start with some one on one. I will create two groups. There could be a few girls in the boys group. Three students go at a time with boys on one side of the gym and girls on other side. One person is the quarterback, one the receiver and one the defensive player. The defensive player must stay in the middle of the gym until the receiver has the ball in their hands. Once the receiver runs his pattern, either down and out, down and in or button hook and catches the ball then he/she will go one on one against the defender and try to run down to the other end of the gym behind the orange cones for a touchdown. Every play should last around 10 seconds. You will rotate from Quarterback to receiver and then to defender.
