Marching Band Attendance Policy
All scheduled rehearsals and performances are mandatory and constitute a graded component of the course.
Students are responsible for completing the designated Attendance/Absence Form for any missed rehearsal or performance, regardless of the reason for the absence.
Excused Absences
Excused Absences
Absences may be considered excused under the following circumstances, provided appropriate and timely communication is made:
Wedding (with advance notice)
Funeral
Unforeseen emergency
Students must notify the Director as soon as reasonably possible in such situations. The Director reserves the right to verify the absence by contacting a parent or guardian.
Approval of an excused absence does not guarantee full credit. Credit may be reduced based on the nature of the absence and the student’s overall attendance record.

The following are classified as unexcused absences:
Employment obligations
Vacations or personal travel
Unexcused absences will result in a substantial reduction in the student’s grade. Make-up opportunities, if permitted, are granted solely at the discretion of the Director.
Other Absences
Other Absences
The program recognizes that extenuating circumstances may arise beyond a student’s control.
Such situations must be reported to the Director as soon as possible.
Determination of whether the absence is excused will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Directors, in consultation with parents or guardians.
The Director may require parent/guardian confirmation to verify the circumstances of the absence.
Credit awarded in these situations is not guaranteed and may be partial or denied, particularly in cases involving repeated absences.

Consistent attendance is essential to the integrity and success of the marching band as a performing ensemble.
Multiple absences, regardless of classification, may result in reduced or no credit for associated performances.
Excessive absences may affect a student’s eligibility to participate in performances or hold designated roles within the ensemble.

All make-up assignments are subject to approval and must be completed within the timeframe established by the Director.
