Welcome to my page! I wanted to give you a little bit of background about myself. I grew up Southeast of Pittsburgh in a home with 2 teachers for parents (I didn't get away with ANYTHING!), an older brother, and a Miniature Schnauzer . I graduated from Penn-Trafford High School in 1997. I played soccer through high school. I enjoyed snow skiing in the winters and water skiing in the summers. I also played the piano and the flute. I attended Mount Union College (now called the University of Mount Union) in Alliance, Ohio. I majored in Elementary Education and minored in Spanish. I graduated from there in 2001, and began my teaching career in Smyrna, GA, while my husband was in Chiropractic school near Atlanta. I taught Head Start (Pre-K) for one year, and 1st grade for a year. It was an awesome learning experience, as only half of my students spoke English! I was introduced to an entirely different world than that in which I grew up. We then moved to St. Louis where my husband finished school, and I nannied for a sweet family with 2 wonderful kids for a year. That year was another GREAT learning experience. It was there that I learned so many mom skills! We moved to Ohio to be close to family. We lived in Girard where my husband was from for a bit, then moved to Cortland. I was hired by Hubbard in 2004. I taught at the middle school for 5 years before moving to the elementary. I taught 1st grade, 4th grade, and then finally settled in 3rd (my FAVORITE!). I have LOVED every year in Hubbard, and consider the faculty and community a family. Teaching is truly a passion of mine, and is what I feel I was created to do.
My husband and I have 2 kids: Aidan, (12th grade), and Rylee (10th grade). They are very active in soccer, skiing, volleyball, and softball. We also have some furry and reptilian friends in our home! We have a cat, Daizy, a Yorkie named Marley (pictured above), and a gecko named Gecky (cleverly named by Aidan when he was 5 haha).
Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more about me! I can't wait to learn more about your kiddos too!
