The Steinert Girls Basketball Team had a very good season finishing with a record of 13-12. They were led by freshman Katie Corby, who finished the season with a team high 219 points and 48 steals. She averaged 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Senior Brook Sinay finished off her career with a very strong season, averaging 6.8 points and 8 rebounds per game. She led the team in rebounding with 210, finishing with 480 for her three-year varsity career. She was a force under the net, often matching up and overpowering taller opponents.
Brenna Riddell completed her four-year varsity career with authority. Her season point total was 160, averaging 7 points per game, giving her an impressive career total of 461. She was indeed a triple threat, averaging almost 5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, and grabbed a team high 85 steals. Her game was a combination of hustle and tenacity.
Senior Emily Hardiman’s hustle and stifling defense will be missed next year. She ended her three-year varsity career with a 93 point season, grabbing 53 rebounds and 21 steals. Sophomore Mia Pope will be back next year to build on this year’s season of 160 points and 105 rebounds.
Though they suffered a heart-breaking first round loss to visiting Brick Memorial, the Lady Spartans left it all on the court every night, showing a strong work ethic and a consistent defensive style that kept them close in virtually every game this season. The seniors will be missed, but there are several young stars who will be ready to step up to the line next season.
