Another Halloween means another thrilling spooky celebration at Six Flags Great Adventure. Fright Fest 2023 was in full swing this past October. As the sun went down, the theme park turned from whimsical to scary. The decor, music and scare actors created a creepy atmosphere around the park. Eight walk-through mazes were also offered throughout the park to add even more fright to your night. Some of the new movie-branded mazes made their debut this year. This included the Conjuring and Saw X mazes, which held their own against classics like Bloodshed. You can always hear the screams coming out of the Fears haunted house where they prey on your worst nightmares and bring it to life.
While the park transforms at night, Six Flags still operated normally during the daytime for those not interested in being scared. As well, at night there were scare free zones for those who needed a break from the scarers. This event is extremely popular as all the rides had long lines. Six Flags had gone through some improvements preparing for this exciting time, the fresh paint and new themes really added to the experience. Amusement park goers can always enjoy the daunting roller coasters and flat rides at the park and Fright Fest adds more thrills to the experience.
Six Flags definitely outdid themself this year. The extra details such as fog everywhere created a perfect ambience for scare actors to hide and scare you. The park offered many different themed areas as you walked through. When first entering the park you were greeted by The Bloody Fountain with zombies roaming around. As you went to what was originally Movie Town, you’d hear the cackling laugh from evil clowns that have escaped the circus and are now hiding out in Clown Town. When walking back towards the Joker ride you step foot into the Demon District. Here you’d find mutant villains that have seized control of the area. After getting a few screams out from Demon District you wander towards the Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty, a new attraction this year. Washed up on Six flags Lakefront, beware of pirates and sea creatures roaming about.
The scare actors were most definitely well trained for their roles in the park. In Clown Town the clowns had their evil laugh down perfectly. With the clowns lurking in the fog, you could hear the screams of kids before even entering. When walking around the Bloody Fountain you always had to be on a look out for a zombie to come out of the dark. At the Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty the pirates used the greenier to their advantage as they blended in perfectly. Overall, Six Flags Fright Fest was extremely well done, for those who love scary things and being scared, this is definitely the place for you!
