Steinert senior, Tyer Eloizard, placed first in the event triple jump at Mercer County Tournament, making him the Mercer County Triple Jump Champion. His winning jump was 43-5.5 feet, his indoor personal best. This is a huge accomplishment as he only started jumping in the last spring track season. Following this tournament, he qualified for the NJSIAA meet of champions. In just a short amount of time, he competed at the state level. Tyler was not stopping there. He competed on the national level at the Nike Indoor National meet on March 10th. He performed strongly with a jump of 43-04.25 feet.
Winter track coach Ms. Furch expressed her excitement and commemorated Tyler’s commitment to the sport. She said, “He has adapted well to track and field, as his natural talent and hard work gave him the ability to compete with the best track and field athletes in the state. Tyler has a love for the triple jump and is committed to seeing where his talent can take him.”
Tyler was not the only winter track athlete that competed at higher level meets. Senior Gary Boyd made it to the NJSIAA sectional championships where he jumped a personal best 5 feet 8 inches in the event high jump. Also, freshman Lisette Zamichieli competed at the sectional championship. She competed in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:27.40. During this winter track season, both under and upperclassmen competed at very high levels, and laid a foundation for success during the spring track season ahead.
