The Steinert girls basketball season finished on February 20th, 2023 in the first round of the state tournament where they faced Brick Memorial. This team showed determination and drive during their season as they were motivated to make this season one of their best. With hard work, the team was able to obtain 15 wins out of the 25 games they played. They also won the Burlington Township Holiday Tournament, where Senior Ashley Adamson and freshman Mia Pope were both named to the all-tournament team. Adamson led the team in points this year with 276 giving her a career total of 425 points. Julianna Ryder led the team in steals with 94 throughout the season. This team had many accomplishments this season and the girls played every game with intensity and commitment.
A special moment for the Steinert Spartans was “Senior Night” celebrating seniors Adrianna Ryder, Juliana Ryder, Ashley Adamson, Carley Krajcsovics, Caitlyn McCarthy, Savina Carabeli, and Addison Corby. They faced off against West Windsor North and came out on top by a score of 42-31. Juliana Ryder scored 15 points to lead the team and her twin sister Adriana Ryder scored 7 points. Ashley Adamson added 9 to the scoreboard and Addison Corby netted 7. Caitlin Mcarthy and Carley Krajcsovics each grabbed 5 rebounds and the game ended with an amazing buzzer beater by Savina Caribelli.
Senior Addison Corby showed great resilience returning from a tough injury suffered last season, and was pleased to be able to finish her career at Steinert on the court playing, rather than sitting and watching like she was forced to do last season. Corby is excited about moving on with her future however she will always look back on the amazing memories she had in her high school athletic career. “This past season was our best season since 2017. When we were on the court, we came together as one and helped each other all the way until the final buzzer. Some of the games toward the end of the season didn’t turn out the way we had hoped, but overall it was a great season, especially for it being my last season. I am not continuing my basketball career into college, but I will forever cherish the time I was a part of the Steinert Girls Varsity Basketball program.”
With hard work and determination, the future looks bright for the girls basketball team. With seven seniors going off to focus on their future endeavors, this will be a drastic change to the roster. Coach Jacobs has high hopes for the future of the team and with her dedication to her job, she has the ability to make a huge difference. We are excited to see what is in store for the 2023-2024 season!
