When he enters the room, his presence is immediately known. Mr. Rogers holds himself with dignity, attentiveness, kindness, and most definitely pride. Although this is his first year as Steinert’s principal, his immediate impact on our community does not go unnoticed. Throughout my own time here, Steinert has faced many changes, both good and bad, and Mr. Rogers is most definitely a good change. To those who may not know, his history with our very building goes beyond expectation. He attended Steinert as a student, taught as a physical education teacher, coached varsity girls basketball, and has now made his return as principal, proving his undeniable understanding of both our school and community.
While speaking with Mr. Rogers, what I have already seen in his actions was just further supported by his words. After asking about his experience so far this year he responded, “It has been extremely positive. After spending 14 years here as a student and a coach, I was very excited to come back”. This is a connection that many parents are looking for within their child’s administrators. Not only does Mr. Rogers feel dedicated to the school, but he has a connection that goes beyond his job as a principal. Having previously worked crosstown at Hamilton High West as an administrator, he feels properly prepared and is extremely enthusiastic to continue this journey.
It brings nothing but comfort to me as a senior at Steinert to be able to know my education and community is in good hands. “I take great pride in being a graduate of this school”, Mr. Rogers says, and that is something our school has needed for a long time. Someone who is not only dedicated to the school but holds an emotional attachment to the growth and health of the community.
Mr. Rogers has done an outstanding job as principal of Steinert throughout the past month and he has plans to do nothing but grow and continue his positive impact. “My goal is to be a consistent, visible presence and supportive to the students and teachers''. As a student, there is nothing I wish to hear more from my principal, and I am sure the rest of the Steinert community feels the same way.
