The Cross Country season officially started on August 22, 2022, with about 35 members, both new and returning. Coach Yacyk and Coach Giacobbe were excited to welcome the returning members, the new runners, and especially the incoming freshman. This is Coach Yacyk’s 15th year coaching XC and Coach Giacobbe’s 8th year. From waking up early in the morning for 7:00 a.m summer practices, to running in the humid temperatures, the members of the team have shown their dedication to the sport. The runners have been working hard during practices and their effort has paid off in the meets.
Aside from practices and meets, the team bonded by going to IHOP, Golden Dawn, and Taco Bell for breakfast after practices over the summer, as well as playing Bootle, Newcomb, and Volleyball during captain’s practices. The numerous pasta parties, that were hosted by the team members, were a huge part of making the team become closer. The team has been enjoying all of these moments they have been spending together. The team bond has gotten stronger since the start and will continue to as the season goes on.
The runners have participated in Dual Meets at Veterans Park, Rosedale Park, Mercer County Park, and Robbinsville High School. They ran at Robbinsville Invite and Thompson Park Class Meet, as well. The top seven boys and top six girls ran on October 1st, 2022 at the Shores Coaches Invitational Meet.
