Subject Philosophy 

We believe math is about more than numbers; it's a powerful way of thinking that helps us understand the world. Our goal is to teach students to reason logically and solve problems creatively. These skills give them the confidence to tackle challenges not just in class, but in all parts of their lives.

Our curriculum is designed to provide students with the technical skills they need, while also inspiring a genuine curiosity about the patterns and structures all around us—from the science of our world to the workings of finance. Secondary Mathematics Curriculum

The secondary mathematics curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation for both daily life and future academic pursuits. It is structured to help students progress from fundamental concepts to more abstract and complex ideas. The key learning strands are:

• Number and Algebra Strand: This strand focuses on developing a strong number sense and the ability to manipulate symbols, expressions, and equations. It covers topics from basic arithmetic to algebraic reasoning and the study of functions.

• Measure, Shape and Space Strand: This strand is all about spatial sense and geometric reasoning. It includes topics like two- and three-dimensional shapes, measurement, and coordinates, helping students to visualize and analyze the world around them.

• Data Handling Strand: This strand develops the skills needed to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data. It introduces students to statistics and probability, enabling them to make informed decisions and predictions in an increasingly data-driven world.
