What does it mean if I earned a Regents Waiver?
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, New York State created a Regents Waiver. Regents waivers were granted for students unable to take (or retake) a Regents Exam. To earn a Regents Waiver, the student must have successfully earned all credits in the sequence of study leading up to the exam.
For ELA, completing 2.5 years of ELA (EES81, EES82, EES83, EES84, EES85) and for all other Regents Curriculum completing 1 year of study.
For meeting graduation and endorsement requirements, a Waiver (WA) on your transcript for a Regents waiver is equivalent to passing the exam. Exams with a WA mark do not need to be retaken. For endorsements (Advanced Regents with Honors, Mastery in Mathematics and Mastery in Science) exams with a WA mark have no numeric equivalent and are excluded from determining the Regents Exam average or evaluating if all exams are 85 or higher.
