About Mrs. Gillespie:
Mrs. Gillespie has been teaching at Hillsboro High School since 1995. She graduated cum laude with her bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University, where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. She is certified to teach English grades 7-12 and Spanish grades K-9.
Mrs. Gillespie earned an advanced degree in English in 1999 and graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University. She earned a specialist degree in educational leadership through Southeast Missouri State University in May 2010 and is also earned an advanced degree in secondary administration grades 7-12.
Mrs. Gillespie has taught a variety of courses for the HHS Language Arts Department. This year she is teaching English II, Appreciation of Literature, and Publications (yearbook). She also taught summer school for 17 years.
In addition to her regular teaching career, Mrs. Gillespie also worked for Leader Publications for 10 years as a writer and photographer for special sections. She has also taught regularly for the last 15 years for Jostens Printing and Publishing Division at summer yearbook workshops. Mrs. Gillespie has been an adjunct instructor for Central Methodist University where she taught Expository Writing (EN-305) and Technical Writing (EN-306) for 10 years and for Jefferson College-Hillsboro where she has taught English Composition I and II for 15 years.
