Dr. Kelley Schmidt
This is my 21st year of teaching. In the past I taught high school math at Parkway South High School (2 years) and Fox Senior High School (6 years). This will be my 14th year teaching junior high math in Hillsboro.
I am ready to enter my 14th year as a junior high teacher! I think I bring a new and different perspective to the junior high. I believe the high school background will help me prepare the junior high students for their next step--high school. There will be new challenges and obstacles to meet as the year progresses but I welcome them. We aren't learning if we aren't challenged!
I have lived in the St. Louis area my whole life. I only left for a few years to attend college where I met my husband. My husband and I have a 14 year old son, a 11 year old son, and a vizsla named Benny.
I have a master's degree in Administration from William Woods University and a Specialist's degree in Administration from Missouri Baptist University. I completed my doctoral degree in December of 2011. The doctoral degree is in educational administration. In the future, I will pursue a position in school administration. At this time, I am enjoying time with my two young children.
I love to travel! We spent two weeks out west this summer! We traveled 4,219 miles and clocked 82.3 hours in the car! We stopped in Albuquerque, NM, Grand Canyon National Park, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Death Valley National Park, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Pink Coral Sand Dunes State Park, Belly of the Dragon, Arches National Park, Pikes Peak, and Colorado Springs.
