Ms. Lammert

I am a Special Services teacher and I have been with the Hillsboro School District since 1995. The best time to reach me is between 8:15 and 9:00 at 636-789-0020 at extension 2401. My e-mail is lammert_traci@hsdr3.org

In English, we read "Swiss Family Robinson," "The Graveyard Mystery," and "My Dog Lala." The students take turns reading the story outloud in class and we orally discuss each story. Our next story will be "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." After Christmas we will read a variety of Mystery stories.

In Science, we have studied about the planets and are currently studying about the weather. We have made predictions about snow days this years with answers from 2 days to 20 days. I am hoping that we are closer to the 2 days!!!!

In Social Studies, we are studying about geography. We have explored regions around the world and are currently learning about Australia. We will make an edible map of Australia that features land and water forms and cities.

In math, we reviewed telling time and are working on a variety of money skills. Adding and subtracting with decimals, multiplying and dividing with decimals. Our next unit will be a check writing unit. We continually review skip counting, coin identification and value and counting out change and counting back change from one dollar, five dollars and twenty dollars. Classroom work is individualized to each students needs. We enjoy playing a variety of games that involve counting with real coins.

In Life Skills class, we recycle for the school, prepare and put up bulletin boards, decorate the classroom for the holidays and maintain two flower beds around the school. We try to cook every week and prepare entire meals too. The students just made hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, corn and a banana cake with chocolate chips layered with vanilla pudding. They made Kool-aid too. We really love going shopping each semester at Wal-Mart to purchase cooking supplies. We will prepare the following meals prior to Christmas: chicken pot pies, taco soup and grilled cheese and pizza. The kids enjoy cooking but love to eat. Their dish washing skills are constantly improving too.

I have a wonderful group of students and it is a great joy to be their teacher. I thank all of my parents for their wonderful child and I appreciate all of your support in making school such a great success!!!!
