About Me

Hi!  I'm Jennifer Welker and I'm thrilled to welcome your family to our classroom. This is my 13th year teaching and I absolutely love teaching in my alma mater, the Hillsboro School District.  Once a hawk, always a hawk! I attended Truman State University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in English and my Master’s degree in Elementary Education.  Then in 2021 I graduated from Northwest Missouri State with Specialist degree in Building Leadership.   I began my teaching career teaching fifth grade at Gateway Science Academy, a charter school in St. Louis.  I only spent one year at GSA because I was so excited for the opportunity to teach back home.  This will be my 12th year teaching for the Hillsboro School District. 

Aside from being a teacher, I am also taking on an administration role as the Dean of Student Conduct this year. In the summer I  manage the waterpark at Six Flags and coached the JV cheer squad for 5 years.  Some of my favorite things are Diet Dr. Pepper, traveling to the beach, puppies and kittens, Mexican food, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.  

I am really looking forward to this year in fifth grade and cannot wait to watch all of my students grow!
