Meet Your Teacher

My name is Amber Spiller; I live in the Hillsboro area with my husband Kevin, our three children Kaleb, 21, Kadin, 17, our daughter Kendall, 14, our three dogs Izzy, Khloe and Evie, and our chickens.  We have a class pet Maverick, who will come to school with me most days.

I will be your homeroom teacher teaching you Science and Social Studies.  Mrs. Huber and Mrs. Mayfield are my partner teachers and will be teaching you Math and ELA.  I’m very excited to be starting out this school year and guarantee that we will have a fun and exciting year.

I attended the Hillsboro School District from my kindergarten year until I graduated in 2003.  From there I went to Jefferson College and received my Associates of Arts Degree in 2005.  After this I moved to Cape Girardeau to attend SEMO University and realized that being away from my family was not the thing for me, so I moved back home.  In 2006, I started attending Missouri Baptist University full time at night while during the day I was substituting for the Hillsboro School District.  I substituted for the district for three years, graduating from Missouri Baptist University in 2008.  I completed my Masters in Educational Technology in May 2017.  I’m always open to new adventures, especially when it comes to my education.  This has brought me to where I am today, my 17th  year of teaching at Hillsboro Intermediate.  

Here is a little about my family.  My husband Kevin works for Jefferson County Highway Department.  During his free time he is a volunteer firefighter and works  at I-55 Raceway. I started working at the race track three years ago and I’m loving it.  Kaleb works for Jefferson County Hightway Departmetn as well.  Kadin just graduated high school a whole year early and will be attending Jefferson College this fall.  He also works at the race track with me, and at Walmart, and he wants to go to school to do teaching.  Kendall will be a freshman this year.  She loves to go to the race track every weekend, ride four wheelers, fish and play sports.  Our dogs Izzy, Khloe and Evie are boxers.  Izzy is six years old and she is white with brown spots.  Khloe is also six years old, they are sisters. She is all white and very special because she is deaf. Evie is a puppy, born in June, she just reacently joined our family.  Maverick is our class pet and he is a bearded dragon, he loves coming to school everyday!  We also have 2oish chickens, some of which we hatched at school this last year and I'm hoping to do it again!
