Homework Policy

We both want your child to do well in school. We also want your child to do their best when it comes to homework. I will be giving homework assignments throughout the year. Please be familiar with my homework policy.

Homework is assigned to reinforce a lesson taught in class, prepare students for a test, teach the students responsibility, and help the students develop positive study habits.

Daily, your child will have a short homework assignment (math practice page). Every week there will be a spelling list for your child to study. Spelling lists are sent home with the class newsletter a week in advance of the test. Homework should not take longer than 30 to 40 minutes.

I expect students to do their best job on their homework. I expect homework to be neat and turned in on time.

If there is a legitimate reason why your child's homework was not completed, please write me a note, email me, or give me a call. I am very understanding about unexpected events and family happenings. I will give your child additional time if they need it.

All homework is graded either in-class or by me. I give praise and incentives for completing homework. Grades will not be recorded into the grade book from your child's homework.

Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience. I ask that parents make homework a top priority, provide the necessary supplies and quiet environment, set a daily homework time, provide praise and support, and contact me if there are any problems or concerns.
