School-Wide Reading is a program used outside the regular classroom to teach specific developmental reading skills to children who are having difficulties meeting grade level expectations. You will see School-Wide Reading sometimes referred to as Title 1 Reading Class. That is because this is a federally funded program.
The main objective of School-Wide Reading is to assess and provide instruction for the child’s academic weaknesses in reading and to provide readiness, remediation, or reinforcement in those areas of weakness. We see students in a 30 minute small group setting. Occasionally a child will make tremendous progress and we will dismiss him/her during the year. We have an “open door” policy. That means we are constantly adding and dismissing students according to their needs.
We are looking forward to working with your child, you, and their classroom teacher throughout the school year. Please feel free to contact us at anytime.
