Welcome!

Dear Parents,

Portland Elementary is the little school with huge expectations and BIG learning. We were just named a 2021 Blue Ribbon School. This award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. We have highly qualified, dedicated teachers and staff members who have high expectations for all of our students. We are excited about implementing Arkansas A+ integration of the arts and the Choose Love Movement.

You are always welcome to be a part of Portland Elementary, and we expect your participation in your child’s education. We will communicate frequently through “All Calls,” purple communication folders, Facebook, and frequent communication through messaging. Teachers will share information about topics and curriculum that you can use to help your child be successful. Your child’s daily attendance is key to our success. This is a very different school year, due to the COVID19 pandemic, but we are dedicated to providing your child a relevant education. At times, students may be learning at home using AMI packets, but it is our desire to be face-to-face at every opportunity.

We have great community support and an awesome PTO. Through them, we are able to provide many fun and exciting opportunities for our students. We hope you’ll be a part of our PTO. Parent volunteers help us out in lots of ways, so you are also encouraged to be a volunteer.

Teachers have scheduled conference times when they are available to meet with you using Google Meets or by appointment. They are also available during those scheduled conference times to speak with you on the phone. Communication is vitally important to your child’s success. I am always interested in your child’s education and any concerns you may have. You are encouraged to call me at (870)737-4333 or you can make an appointment to meet with me. You will always be considered a valuable partner.
