Do you worry about how your student is handling the pandemic, comprehensive distance learning, and being distant from friends and family? Do you worry that your student's mental health may need some support? We are all going through unprecedented times, and it's important to normalize mental health. Speaking to a counselor or therapist about our mental health is just as valid and important as speaking to a medical doctor about our physical health.
If you have mental health concerns for your student, Hillsboro School District Care Coordinators can help. HSD's Care Coordinators assist families in connecting with mental health services in Washington County. A simple referral through the school counselor is all that is needed to start the process.
If you feel that your student could use mental health support, please reach out to me.

Summer break is here, which brings relief, joy and excitement for many of Hillsboro’s students.
Unfortunately, for some families it causes concern and added stress about how they will feed their families during the summer months. Nearly 50% of Hillsboro School District students are eligible to receive free meals from Hillsboro Schools during the school year; that equates to roughly 10,000 students that receive food assistance for breakfast or lunch during the school year.
During the summer months, Hillsboro School District sponsors free meals in nine* locations (*additional sites may be added so please check back often). Lunch for the current day and breakfast for the next day are served together. As there is no meal service on Fridays, Thursday's distribution will also contain breakfast and lunch for Friday. Meals are intended for children between the ages of 1 and 18, one per person. Children do not need to be present to receive a meal. An adult may pick up a meal for a child in their care. Families do not need to stay at the site to eat their meal. They are allowed and encouraged to take the food home to prevent congregating in one place.
If you have any questions about the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) please contact Rebecca Wicks, Nutrition Services Supervisor at 503.844.1460.
