Dear Families,

We appreciate your dedication to your child’s education throughout the school year. We recognize the important partnership between families and schools which benefits from transparent communication. This is the reason for sharing this information about your child’s progress as we wrap up the school year, so that together we can continue supporting your student.

At this time, your child has been assessed as not meeting all the grade level benchmarks in the foundational skills of reading. There are many reasons this could be happening.

If you could please practice reading strategies with your child this summer, it will be greatly beneficial for their future success. Many of these strategies are games, songs, or other play based activities you can do as a family. For families who speak a different language at home, we encourage you to practice these skills in your native language. Bilingual students’ brains continuously transfer these skills from one language to the other.
