Head Varsity Volleyball Coach
I believe in creating a positive, encouraging, and growth-focused environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to reach their full potential. Volleyball is more than just a game—it’s an opportunity to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills that extend beyond the court.
My coaching approach emphasizes fundamentals, strategic play, and mental toughness, while also fostering a love for the game. Every athlete brings unique strengths, and my goal is to help them develop both as players and as individuals by promoting hard work, accountability, and a team-first mindset.
Above all, I strive to instill a culture where effort is celebrated, mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, and every player feels valued. Whether coaching at the varsity level or working with young athletes, my mission remains the same—helping players grow, compete with confidence, and enjoy the journey.
Playing Experience
My volleyball journey started with the Portland Volleyball Club, where I played from 6th to 9th grade. I continued my club experience with Salem VBC and Hillsboro VBC throughout high school, while also playing volleyball for Hilhi from 9th to 12th grade. As well as basketball and track all four years. During that time, I was honored to receive:
2nd Team All-Metro League Setter (10th & 11th grade)
1st Team All-Metro Setter (12th grade)
At the collegiate level, I played as a setter for Western Oregon University for two years before transitioning to Eastern Oregon University, where I took on the dual role of setter and defensive specialist. My love for the game didn’t stop there—I’ve continued playing in Portland State University’s intramural leagues and in various city adult leagues to this day.
Coaching Experience
My passion for volleyball extends beyond playing—I love coaching and sharing the game with athletes of all ages.

Personal Life
I’ve been married to my spouse, Donyale, for 14 years, and together we have two amazing kids—Kaleah (14) and Declan (11)—who keep life full of adventure.
I earned my Master’s in Teaching Health and PE from Pacific University and am actively involved in youth development as a City of Hillsboro South Meadows Afterschool Zone Coach.
Beyond volleyball, I love spending time outdoors—camping, hiking, and playing beach volleyball whenever I get the chance. Traveling, cooking, and gardening with my family are some of my favorite ways to unwind and make memories.
I am a Hilhi graduate, class of ‘99, Whoop! Whoop! I played volleyball and was part of the track team here at Hilhi during my four years of high school. Graduated from PSU with a BS in HR and General Management. I have three amazing kids; Faith, Samuel and Gracey. Faith is a Hilhi grad and Samuel and Gracey are both current students at Hilhi. We have a Cavapoo puppy named Sapphire who joined our family Summer 2024. I have worked as the office manager for a local State Farm agent for over 10 years. I love to play outdoor/indoor games, dance, laugh, walk/hike, paddle board, be in/on/or around water, catch a beautiful sunrise/sunset, coach, garden, and bake yummy tasting things. I aspire to go on adventures/travel, grow and learn as much as I can, meet new people and hear their stories as I believe our stories is what connects us!
I have had the opportunity to coach a variety of different sports through the years; baseball, basketball, and volleyball at different levels with being part of the Spartan Volleyball coaching team since 2023. I am an encourager at heart. My approach to coaching is through encouragement and positive reinforcement. You will often hear me cheering and pouring out compliments of things your athlete has done well and sneaking in as many high fives as I can. My biggest challenge is sitting down during the matches! My goal in coaching is to help athletes strive to be admirable, hardworking, authentic humans for their future while providing skills to help them improve and attain their personal and team goals. I look forward to a new season full of excitement and challenge.
