What is Work Based Learning?
Work Based Learning is an opportunity for high school students to gain on the job experience during their high school day. Work Based Learning spots are allocated for upperclassmen. Work Based Learning allows for students to develop professional skills that will benefit them when they enter future programs or the work force. Students in WBL placements also forge connections and professional relationships within the community that can provide a foundation for future career opportunities. WBL placements can be paid, or unpaid.
WBL is organized through the CCISD. Please see the provided link to their website for additional information.
Students wishing to do a WBL placement must fill out the appropriate paperwork for the placement, and also must complete and OSHA training. Additionally, WBL students are expected to report their hours and a synopsis of their experience weekly to the ISD to earn high school credit for their experience.
WBL students must be diligent in monitoring their email, and will be expected to communicate professionally with both their site supervisor and the CCISD WBL Coordinator.
