Summer Soar

Students Entering Grades 6- 12

Notice: Student passwords have changed. Students will need the new password to login to Chromebooks & HPS Google accounts. Please call 669-4877 to get the updated password.

Basic Overview

Students complete activities for each week (1 Math in Khan Academy, 1 English in Quill, & 1 exploratory)
Students or parents complete this form to be eligible for rewards
- Every student who completes the weekly tasks and submits the form will earn a book
- We will raffle off bigger prizes at the end of the program for students who complete activities each week
Go to Baldwin or Riley St. Middle Schools during scheduled times (shown below) to claim your reward or work on activities

Getting Started

English
- Go to this Quill classroom login page (you need to use this link to gain access to the course)
- Scroll down and click Sign up to create a student account (or use your existing account)
- Click Sign up with Google (use your HPS Google account) and accept the permission prompts
- Click the Summer Soar Class and click Start to take the Intermediate Baseline Diagnostic (Pre)
- If you have progress from last summer, continue where you left off
Math
- Go to. the Khan Academy Get Ready page and login with your HPS Google account
- Choose the grade level / math class you will be doing next year (Alg for 9th, Geo for 10th, Alg 2 for 11th)
- Follow the prompts in the platform to get started

Find the names of 3 or more trees or plants around your home
- Get help or use an app like iNaturalist
Bonus: plant something and make it grow

Week 2: June 23-29

(yard work, trash pick-up, volunteer, etc.)
- Bonus: Add your experience to a resume

Week 3: June 30-July 06

Week 4: July 07-13

Visit 2 or more Hudsonville area parks and compare them - pros & cons
Bonus: Contact Hudsonville Public Works or Ottawa County Parks and share feedback
