Thank you to all of our students, parents/guardians, and staff for another amazing school year at BMS! We are so proud of all of the accomplishments, successes, and growth that our students have demonstrated this year. Thank you to our families as well for the continued support and partnership with the school to make these middle school years a great experience for our students. We are also very excited to celebrate our 8th graders next week on Tuesday night, and wish them well on their journey through high school. The year has flown by and we hope that you all are able to enjoy time together this summer! As we wrap up classes and exams, please ensure that your students are coming to school with charged Chromebooks and their charger. There is a lot of information in this newsletter as we wrap up the year, so please let me know if there are any questions.
Please keep an eye on your emails over the summer for 2023-24 school year updates.
Fire up, Go Eagles!
Ryan Crete, Principal - Baldwin Street Middle School
We will be sending home the spring STAR testing results with your students on Tuesday, June 6. Please check your student's backpack for this information. This will also be a locker clean-out day, so they may be coming home with lots of stuff :)
We want to say thank you and express our appreciation for all those who gave items, money, and their time supporting Baldwin Street Middle School this year. We are humbled by the generosity and selflessness of our volunteers. We cannot do it without you, and we wouldn’t want to do it without you.
We look forward to teaming with you again and continuing to make a difference together. Please keep bringing your ideas and positive energy.
Hope you will come back and join us next year, and maybe even bring a friend!

Students must arrive by 6:00 p.m. and report to the northeast gate to line up and parents will enter through the main entrance. Students are asked to wear nice clothing that also meets the school dress code policy. If we have inclement weather, we will move the ceremony to the high school gym on June 6, 2023 at 6:30 pm.
Students will keep their Chromebooks over summer. We are fortunate to have a 1-to-1 Chromebook program, and we have seen many positive changes to teaching and learning over the last two and a half years. We made this decision to encourage ongoing educational opportunities and minimize difficulty with collecting and distributing devices.
Advantages of students keeping their Chromebook:
Provides greater access to learning over the summer.
Promotes students ownership, responsibility, and care of their device.
Reduces the amount of time needed for the collection and distribution. No long lines at open houses and more time for instruction the first week of school.
Here are some ideas and resources for Chromebook use over the summer:
Parents can use our web filter management app. See this form for details and to request the app.
Students can access the student links page for core platforms and engagement activities we will be posting.
We will be collecting damaged Chromebooks on June 8 in the media center so they can be repaired and ready for use at the start of next school year. The tech office will then repair them and will communicate about how you can pick them up. Please be sure to turn them in if there is anything that is broken or malfunctioning.
Congratulations to all of our athletes that competed at the Mega Star State Track Competition 5/31 representing their school well and placing among the top athletes in the state.

Lakelyn Weber placed 3rd in the 400 with a time of 1:01.61.
Lakelyn Weber placed 6th in the 800 with a time of 2:34.07.
Anya Meeuwsen placed 21st in the 100 with a place of 14:00.
Gabe Rangel placed 8th with a throw of 39:07.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 10 to 24. Sometimes students' struggles can be underestimated because of their age. Recently, the State of Michigan passed House Bill 5482 which requires all students in grades 6-12 have the National Suicide Prevention Hotline number printed on their student IDs as a step to support students in need of mental health support. You will notice this information on your student's school ID. Student IDs will look similar to the one pictured here. Please visit the link provided to House Bill 5482 to seek clarity about the law, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
