In the interest of giving police officers in an emergency situation quick access to critical information about a resident involved, the Highland Park Police Department has created a registry of community members who are autistic or have another communication disability.
After someone signs-up they will be provided with a "HP S.A.F.E." sticker that they can display on their vehicle and the front entrance of their home. This sticker will bring awareness to responding officers/ EMS personnel during an emergency situation, while also serving as a de-escalation tool.
