Health includes the foundational knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions that promote lifelong health and wellness. The course is designed around health literacy, healthy behaviors, and critical thinking about health information. Students learn to analyze and apply health information, understand how behavior affects health and body systems, and use decision-making, goal setting, and communication skills to support personal, family, and community health. Topics include health information and literacy; nutrition, body composition, and physical fitness; mental and emotional health; injury, violence prevention, and safety; alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; first aid and CPR; and reproductive and sexual health.
