One World Many Stories

The One World, Many Stories Program is a collaboration between the World Cultures class and the MIS library.  The weekly reading program has been a success in promoting global awareness, reading comprehension and higher-level thinking and application in and outside of the classroom.

Students have the option to choose various genres of books from the seven continents of our world.  Writing prompts are applied to the students chosen reading to promote cultural understanding and connections.  Class dialogue about the books are used to build knowledge about the various global topics and consistent vocabulary is practiced to promote deeper understanding, questioning and class dialogue.

The Raider Library One World Many Stories program is featured in Young Adult Literature in Action: A Librarian's Guide by Dr. Rose Brock (2019).
