Family Curriculum Guides (FCGs) provide an overview of what your child is learning in the current nine-weeks grading period. These guides also provide information and access to additional information about steps you can take at home to help your child achieve success by supporting their academic growth.
Family Curriculum Guides are created with teachers and aligned to the HPISD Frameworks and curriculum documents.
New documents will be posted each nine weeks grading period.
If you have questions or concerns reach out to your child's teacher and they can provide additional details.
In addition to Family Curriculum Guides, Year-at-a-Glance are posted for each grade level. These documents provide an overview and an approximate number of days spent in each area. The number of days will vary based on the needs of the students in each class. The number of days accounts for testing, special projects, and other campus activities.
The Grade Level Writing Plans include grade level goals to ensure that your child will complete at least one writing per nine-weeks using the HPISD Writing Process. Additional guidance will be provided by your child's teacher as the writing process begins.
In an effort of continuous improvement, HPISD has created a comprehensive K-12 grammar alignment plan that ensures mastery of specific grammar skills. Master includes basic understanding, along with identification in reading, and application in writing. The TEKS aligned grammar plan, focuses on specific grammar lessons for each grade level during each grading period. This plan is a working document to ensure all students grow and enhance their writing skills while in HPISD. Students are expected to master skills and be held accountable for implementation across writing in all content areas. Foundational resources used for instruction include anchor resources along with the Open Court Language Arts Handbook (LAH), the Bedford Handbook (BH), and others outlined in the Literacy Framework.
