Sensory processing is the way the nervous system receives and organizes messages from the senses and turns them into responses. Also known as Sensory Integration.
The general public understands the five senses: vision, hearing, taste, touch and smell. There's three more senses, too!
Proprioceptive System is our sense of body awareness. It gives us the position, orientation and movement of our muscles and joints. Proprioception provides us with the sense of the relative position of neighboring parts of the body and effort used to move body parts.
Vestibular System is our sense of balance and orientation in space. It is the leading system informing us about movement and position of head relative to gravity.
Interoceptive System is our sense of what our internal organs are feeling. The physiological/physical condition of the body like hunger, thirst, heart rate, respiration and elimination.
