What do Social Workers Do?
Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure that all students can thrive in school and at home.
Help students develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Provide crisis intervention and behavior management.
Support teachers with classroom management strategies to promote learning in the classroom.
Provide parents with resources and information in community services and agencies.
Reinforce the Second-Step Social Emotional Learning program that is being implemented in the classrooms.
Provide individual and group counseling to help students develop a variety of skills such as self-control, social skills, coping skills, stress management, and conflict management.
Improve academic achievement by promoting student engagement, conducting assessments, implementing interventions and strategies, and monitoring student progress.
Support diverse learners by assessing students’ learning needs and providing culturally responsive services to students.
