When I attended Ralph R. Smith, I was blessed to have teachers who instilled a lifelong love of reading and spelling. This interest has blossomed into a passion for teaching reading; I hope to inspire the same enthusiasm for English Language Arts in your child!

Professional career began at Violet Avenue Elementary School; then taught Reading at FDR High School for a year. Most recently, I taught ELA AIS and Special Class Reading at Haviland Middle School from 2001-2024.
Received training in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling).
Certified Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator.
Ongoing professional development focused on raising my English Language Learners' awareness of Spanish cognates and increasing all of my students' knowledge of the morphology (e.g. roots and affixes) and etymology (historical development) of English.
Advocate for instruction supported by scientific research and that addresses the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
