Haviland Middle School OrchestraS

Hello Orchestra Students and Families! Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year! 

I cannot wait to work with all of the orchestra students at Haviland this year; I am excited to meet the new 6th grade students and see my 7th and 8th graders again. 

Now, more than ever, research shows us why we do this demanding, yet rewarding activity. Music is unifying. Music is social. Music is comfort. Experts have concluded that the study of music positively effects overall quality of life. Studies have shown that participating in a music ensemble enhances spatial reasoning, improves test taking, and builds social skills, emotional maturity, leadership, teamwork, aesthetic perception and appreciation, and self-discipline. 

I was so proud of all of the incredible work that the music students at Haviland produced throughout the remote and hybrid learning experience and can't wait to see all of the creative work to come! We are going to have so much fun this year in orchestra!
