My name is Jennifer Hickey and I am excited to teach 9th and 11th grade English this year. I have been teaching since 2002 in positions ranging from middle school through college and graduate school. No matter the age of my students, the one constant is sharing my love of literature. When I’m not at school or being a wife and mom of two teenagers, I am sneaking off into the woods for a run or a hike. I love trees, mountains, moss and anything outdoors! An ideal summer for me would include traveling to another country to immerse myself in cultures and cuisines, while exploring new cities and landscapes.  Most of my past experiences have revealed to me how similar we all are, despite our differences. This is why literature is invaluable.  It offers an opportunity to explore cultures and make authentic connections.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us."

Ralph Waldo Emerson
