Hello! My name is Taylor Babbin and I teach 6th grade band, 7th grade band, and general music at Haviland Middle School.
Growing up, I always loved music and knew right away that I wanted to be in band and play the piccolo! After I marched into the band room in fourth grade and told my band director that I wanted to play the piccolo, she told me that I needed to start with flute. From day one, I was hooked on playing the flute! Before I knew it, I was in band, chorus, and taking private lessons.
Fast forward quite a few years and many hours of practicing, I attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Flute Performance. After graduating from UMass, I taught 6th-8th grade band in Westfield, MA for two years (alongside my husband, Mr. Babbin). In 2018, I packed up my life in MA and moved to the Hudson Valley to teach band at Haviland Middle School! I graduated with my Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from Ball State University in May 2021.
When I'm not teaching at HMS, I enjoy teaching private flute and piano lessons, playing flute, spending time with my family and my pets (my cat, Horatio and my dogs, Beau and Willow), baking delicious sweets, reading, and horseback riding!
