Welcome to St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School! The natural beauty of Goderich and its surroundings is the perfect backdrop for our school community named in honour of Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus. At St. Mary’s, Mary, serves as a constant example of true service and represents the very foundation of who we are as a school.
We are excited to be back open for in-school learning starting with a staggered start on September 14th.
September 14 • Students with last names beginning A – G will attend.
September 15 • Students with last names beginning H – N will attend.
September 16 • Students with last names beginning O – Z will attend.
September 17 • All students return to school.
If you choose Online Remote Learning for your child, the principal of the new HPCDSB Virtual School will contact you shortly.
Covid-19 caused us to face a new reality that none of us could imagine, and seemed to cause the world to hit the pause button. Despite this uncertainty, we all had the common goal of trying to do what was best for our children. We are excited to shift back to in-person learning and we have worked tirelessly over the past few months to get ready for a safe return to school.
To aid in this transition as a parent, we hope this resource will be helpful as a "one-stop-shop" resource. School will certainly look different this year but we are committed to following Board, Ministry and Public Health guidelines to provide as safe an environment as possible. Please take some time to navigate through this site to read important information that parents and students need to know as we welcome students back. Please do not hesitate to contact Principal McDade at smcdade@hpcdsb.ca.

A short video has been produced for parents and caregivers in conjunction with public health authorities. This video includes very important information about what schools will look like, processes in place for student safety and direction for parents.
Please check the Huron-Perth Student Transportation Website and follow their Twitter Feed for updates on bus routes for the start of school.
Blessed are you, Lord God,
Creator of body and mind and heart;
you have sent the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge
to guide your people in all their ways.
At the beginning of this new school year,
in this time of uncertainty and anxiety,
we implore your mercy.
Bless and protect our students, teachers,
staff, and their families.
Give wisdom to the decision makers,
be they in our schools, governments or in our homes.
Expand the horizons of our minds,
and deepen our commitment to seek
the truth of your ways.
Enliven our faith to reach out to those in need,
particularly those isolated and lonely.
In these days when so much has changed,
help us to trust in the love of your Son Jesus,
our Divine Teacher, who is the same
yesterday, today, and forever.
Amen.
St. Joseph, Pray for us.
