No Kuʻu Hawaiʻi
My name is Sophia Rose Donoho. I would like to say that I come from a family of explorers, not in a traditional "Christopher Columbus" sense, but to always find new horizons, whether it be through education, music, or new places. My family comes from the Midwest and South of the United States on one side, and Guatemala and Spain on the other, with those two sides connecting on Hawaii. I have grown up in Waimea most of my life, with a few years in the island of Lāna'i under my belt, therefore I get to see two parts of the Hawaiian Islands. I am very passionate about art and music and the the beauty of the natural world. I dream of going to college for Art History and preserving traditions of other cultures, not just my own but those of others, so that those cultures also live for generations to come.
Why choose this capstone? I have a real connection to places in Hawaii, and so does the rest of my family, with my father especially working on healing areas of our island that have been victims of climate change, and/or neglect.
