In our capstone class we often write reflections called weblogs. If you would like to look at mine, the link is below!
On November 15 I spent the class setting up my EEG and connecting it with my computer. This was the first trial of the headset, and it worked perfectly. I had some issues connecting the headset using bluetooth, but once I troubleshot that issue and the connection worked I was able to fill my sensors with electrode gel and start recording data. I recorded almost eight minutes of data, and I am really excited to use this same method to run my experiment.
Here is a screen recording of some of the brainwaves I recorded. You can download the file and look at the brainwave recording.
Over winter break I ran my test on my friend Caiden Andrist. We ran into a few technical issues with timestamping the recording and to see where in the recording each step of the experiment was happening. How could I tell what question he was on in order to compare it with others?
For my next two subjects (Ava Huddleston and Michi Wong), I took notes by hand and wrote down the times each time they moved to the next step. This timestamping has let me pick out areas where both of them are on the same question in order to compare the brain waves there (where they are both thinking about the same thing, for example, both reading the same passage or looking at the same series of images).
Here is me setting up the headset for Caiden's trial!
