WELCOME TO 5TH GRADE!
Welcome to the 2026/2027 school year! I am very excited for the upcoming school year!
Language Arts:
In 5th grade, students will attend Language Arts for two consecutive class periods, also referred to as a block period. Students will be assigned to either Periods 1/2 or Periods 6/7. Class assignments will vary by student, so please be sure to review your child’s schedule to confirm their assigned period.
For Language Arts, students will use a purple folder, binder, and composition notebook. These materials will typically remain in the classroom. Occasionally, students may need to take their materials home to complete an assignment and will be expected to return them to class the following day.
Students will have 20 minutes of reading each night as part of their regular homework routine.
Social Studies:
Students will have Social Studies with me during either Period 4 or Period 5, depending on their individual schedule.
Students will use a blue folder to store, organize, and maintain their Social Studies materials throughout the year.
Google classroom is a valuable tool for both students and families so make sure to check it regularly.
My name is Mrs. Bastide, and I will be your ELA teacher this school year. I am so excited for the upcoming school year and cannot wait to meet each of you!
I graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Middle Childhood Education, with concentrations in English Language Arts and Social Studies.
Outside of school, I live with my husband, Justin, and our two dogs, Hank and Scout. Hank and Scout are both mini Goldendoodles, and they love going on walks! When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, going to the beach, and spending time with Justin and our dogs.
I am truly excited to have each of you in my class and look forward to getting to know you throughout the school year. I know we are going to learn a lot, make great memories, and have a wonderful year together!
I can't wait to get started!
