RESOURCES FOR OUR CREATIVE PROJECTS:
These are the resources that I use to create the resources that WE use in class. I have not tested most of these against the HMS firewall--so you may be unable to access some from your Chromebook or on HMS' wifi network.
FONTS
DaFont.com - Free fonts (I don't have experience in adding new fonts to Chromebooks--but they work well on Windows.) Stick with fonts labeled "Free for Personal use" or "100% free"--otherwise you may be missing important letters or symbols.
https://www.reliablepsd.com/ultimate-google-font-pairings/ - For when you don't know what Google fonts go well together.
GRAPHICS
Pixabay.com - Backgrounds, stock photos, stock film clips/animations, illustrations. One of my favorite websites on the internet.
Unsplash.com - Same type of website as Pixabay, but with different options.
https://publicdomainvectors.org/ - Clip art
https://coolors.co/ - Color palette generator
https://www.flaticon.com/ - Icons of all shapes and sizes. Great resource, but make sure if you search you click "Free" instead of all licenses to weed out the icons that cost money.
The hex code for the orange color on Howland's tiger head logo is #e24927.
MUSIC
https://www.bensound.com/ - Tons of excellent free-to-use music.
PHOTO EDITING
Photopea.com - A full, free clone of the leading photo editing software. Others are out there, but Photopea is elite in my opinion. Most Photoshop tutorials will work on Photopea.
Video Editing
https://vidmix.app/ - A free browser-based video editor.
POSTERS
It's not a website, but it's a super-helpful tip: for most of the poster-type projects I make in class, I use Google Slides. I start a new Slides project, and the first thing I do is go to file > page setup. From there, I click on the dropdown menu which asks if I want Standard 4:3, Widescreen 16:9, Widescreen 16:10 or Custom. I choose Custom and set the page to 8.5" x 11"---the size of a standard sheet of paper. From there, I can add images, text boxes, and everything else.
SLIDESHOWS
SlidesCarnival.com - Tons of great, free templates to use to make your next slide show look awesome.
