This is just a quick one. Google Docs has speech to text built-in. And it actually works pretty well. To use it, just go to the Tools menu, and click on voice typing. Google will ask if it can use your computer mic. Once you do that, just start talking!
Caveat: Voice typing is essentially just dictation, which is a skill in of itself. Google won’t punctuate for you, so you have to do that as you talk. That means you have to say things like “full stop” and “comma” for Google to put them in. For example, you would have to say something like “Hello [comma] my name is Inigo Montoya [Full Stop] You killed my father [Full Stop, New Paragraph] Prepare to die [Exclamation Mark]”. Not ideal, but probably good practice for most students anyway!
